| Newport lays at
the foot of Carn Ingli, which in Welsh means Angel Mountain. Carn Ingli
is at the western end of the Preselis - the famous bluestone hills. This
beautiful village, overlooked by a Norman castle, is blessed with two beaches.
Traeth Mawr is long and sandy with rock pools at one end. Parrog, located
by the estuary is home to Newport's Boat Club a lovely place to have a drink
and watch the yachts. |

Walkers can wander
the open expanses of Carn Ingli, explore the coastal path, or follow the
many marked walks in the area. The estuary is a great attraction with bird
watchers. There is a Visitor Centre in Long Street Newport which has leaflets
and maps of all the local walks and activites. The village boasts several
public houses and restaurants to suit varied tastes and pockets. We also
have a golf course overlooking the bay with more than its fair share of
sand bunkers! |
